Inline Filters should only show related records.

I have a stacker where each user can see information on their respective clients, to whom they are related in airtable. They cannot see information about unrelated clients, which is kept private from them. However, in a record list of their related clients, if inline filters is enabled, they can see a dropdown of the names of all clients, including ones they are not related to. Inline filters should only show related records, or have an option to only show related records. Currently inline filters cannot be used when the field they are filtering is partly confidential. Additionally this means no other filters can be used because there is no option to select individual filter fields.

As a new user of Stacker, I find it surprising that after permissions to restrict record visibility to those of the logged in user, the dropdown inline filter still displays all records, including those the logged user doesn't have permission to see. Is this an error on my part, or a significant oversight in Stacker's design?

The thing is, that as a user you expect to have the inline filter are based on your 1. filter you define in the view and 2. based on the permissions you define for the data.
The current way is really confusing. This also leads to the creation of many different views basically to work around this lack of feature.
It would be a big help to only show the options in the filter that is on the respective view instead of the whole dataset.

This request features in a few several requests in this list. Is it possible to merge them together to bump this up a bit? If added altogether it would make 104 votes (maybe some duplicates but still). Our app doesn’t function without this, so just waiting an update. 🤞

Jane Middlehurst: Hey Jane, thanks - some of these are related to inline filters and some of these aren't so I'm hesitant to merge them. I think they do share related themes however and also we are able to keep an eye on this feedback and categorise it on our end through the admin interface. I'm sorry that the lack of some functionality here is making it difficult for your app to work the way you would like it to. Thank you for raising this.

Sze Wing Choi: Thanks for getting back to me. Some are for inline filters and others are for drop down menus. From a user perspective they represent the same problem from a organizational or security side that they are showing ‘all records’ not just those related to the record you’re working on. We’ve spoken to your team and there isn’t a work around for this. Will this be reviewed as a potential update?

Support, have you guys seen this? Can we have an update please?

Operations: Hey - I think we've caught up since then but yes, seen and noted, thank you!

This is a huge issue for us, our app is split into different projects with lots of related records for that project. Having all records appear, rather than then ones related to that project in drop down options or inline filters means we can't launch until this is resolved.

100% agree, you should be able to limit the options in a dropdown, more specifically in an inline filter, by certain conditions.

100% on this feature. Makes inline filters unusable in so many cases.

agree, and not only for in line filter, also for drop down list in record creations
