I want to be able to update records in a list view so I don't have to click into the detail view. An important example of this would be updating a single select dropdown like "Status" or even a checkbox to mark something as "done." This interaction would hopefully not require clicking "edit" and then "save" as they would be updates that have a defined end event, unlike trying to figure out if someone is done typing.

I would like the ability to disable detail view when on list views, everything I need the user to see is on the first list view.

This could be accomplished by adding an "edit mode" to list views just like on detail views or adding the same "start in edit mode" at the field level when you click the edit button while hovering over the field list item.
